The Latest on the Auburn Men's Basketball Coaching Search
The Tide Times and The Sports Times Network (STN) has been told today about a leading candidate, Tony Barbee, being linked to the Auburn men's basketball vacancy. Chuck Gallina, Auburn's men's basketball Media Relations Director, told STN that "We (Auburn) have no information regarding him (Tony Barbee.) It is incorrect that there is a press conference scheduled for late Thursday." The Associate Athletics Director and Media Relations at UTEP, Jeff Darby, also informed STN today that "We are busy, getting ready for a NCAA tournament game. He (Barbee) isn't going to talk to you about the Auburn job, if you want to talk to him. To be honest with you, I think it's hard to believe that questions about a coaching vacancy will be left off the table."

SOURCES TELL THE TIDE TIMES STOOPS VISIT TO UA WAS RELATED TO MEYER & GIVE INSIGHT INTO WHATS REALLY GOING ON BETWEEN MEYER AND A.D. JEREMY FOLEY
BY NICK TAYLOR ND Dan Harralson
Last Wednesday current Oklahoma coach, Bob Stoops, visited his good friend Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa. Many people assumed that the reason for the visit was probably Texas, which is probably true (at least in part since Texas is Oklahoma's rival) and also because of the fact that Saban and Stoops have been good friends since they crossed paths as young men in Ohio (where Stoops grew up.)
Two sources, one a colleague of Nick Saban and the other a media member and friend of THE TIDE TIMES that THE TIDE TIMES has interviewed in the past, informed THE TIDE TIMES that Florida A.D. Jeremy Foley had contacted Bob Stoops gauging his interest in the UF coaching position after learning on December 18th that Coach Meyer was seriously contemplating retiring from coaching due to his health situation. Ironically on December 23rd, the same day that Stoops flew to Tuscaloosa, Urban Meyer flew to San Diego, CA to watch his good friend and Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham play California in the Poinsettia Bowl: and asked him if he would take the Florida job if his health did not allow him to coach anymore.
Our sources claim that Stoops agreed in principal to take the job at UF and that the reason for Coach Meyer's decision to take a leave of absence and attempt to remain the coach at Florida was more related to a concern that Stoops or another coach would come in and change everything he and his players had built. The most important fact in this story may be that the sources also suggested that the only reason Jeremy Foley offered Meyer a leave of absence was merely out of courtesy given his accomplishments as a coach, but that he never expected him to take the offer given his personality. The sources went on to state Foley was a little perturbed with Meyer about all the Notre Dame and other rumors involving the coach which have always made Foley question Meyer's loyalty to the UF program. In closing, I wish to make it clear that the people that I know (that know Coach Meyer including Coach Saban) believe that Coach Meyer is sick and they along with THE TIDE TIMES will keep him in our prayers because some things our bigger than football. We will see how this plays out.
PS for those people interested in this type of thing there is a website called Flight Aware that tracks planes and I am told there is record of Coach Meyer flying out to San Diego on there as well, but we have yet to locate it but CLICK HERE IF YOU WANT TO SEE STOOPS FLIGHT RECORD TO TUSCALOOSA...
GOD BLESS YOU COACH MEYER

Urban Meyer Engages with Kyle Whittingham
By Dan Harralson
The SEC lost one of their most historical coaches an evening Saturday night. Coach Urban Meyer decided to stay at the University of Florida after "a change of heart." We all witnessed a press conference yesterday only to know zero information on why Coach Meyer left the game of college football for one evening, before returning. He was very secretive about his health situation and now it has turned into this health-related debacle. Paul Finebaum was just on ESPN telling what needs to be addressed, about a situation that was never addressed. Finebaum hit it on the head when he told ESPN about this debacle turning into pararells of a Tiger Woods situation. There are also some reports from the Florida that Coach Meyer's situation maybe in line of a family incident and/or problem. The one thing that sticks out in yesterday's press conference, is that Coach Meyer would not discuss any health related topics in great detail when this is all about his health that caused him to quit his profession for a day. As we have came to learn in the world of sports, health-related problems brings families, friends, and fan bases together. Why shy away from health-related matters when it is so severe that an individual like Urban Meyer would not come clean and tell all the fans that care about him? Look at Jimmy V, Magic Johnson, Lance Armstrong, etc. who all handled health-related matters to a perfect example. We do know, and was asked yesterday, Urban Meyer flew to California after the SEC Championship game. As Meyer stated, "It is a recruiting dead period", then would not answer why he flew to California (when he should not be since he is in bad health?) Multiple sources are aware that Urban flew to California during the same time his ex-team (Utah) and his ex-assistant (Kyle Whittingham) played in the Poinsettia Bowl against California (played in San Diego.) It has been known that he wanted Coach Whittingham to replace him at the University of Florida and he would take a prominent role with Florida. It was a great plan until the offer was turned down by his ex-assistant. Paul Finebaum knew a lot of the information that has been un-mentioned in this ordeal gone bad. ESPN tried underestimating his comments this afternoon, but the truth has been untold by Meyer and the University of Florida. We all hope Coach Meyer is in great health, but when you are a public figure, why go a secretive route when health-related problems can only bring people together (especially when you have a great spokesman in Tim Tebow still in your back pocket?) Urban Meyer needs to come clean and address the situation he caused and tell the details that were caused on him (how severe the health illness is and will be.) Paul Finebaum, I am sure will un-glue the distractions and the un-told information, in which what is really going on with Coach Urban Meyer. We all do hope Meyer will be okay regarding his health and his family.

INGRAM WINS HEISMAN
BY NICK TAYLOR & DAN HARRALSON
A source that claims to be affiliated with the accounting firm that is supervising the vote count of The Heisman Trophy told THE TIDE TIMES Friday morning, via telephone, that Alabama running back Mark Ingram had won The Heisman Trophy. Seems farfetched I know but the voting info he went on to give doesn't seem to be. He stated that Ingram had won the award by the closest margin in its history and that Suh, the Nebraka DL had finished in second only a few total points away. Here's how the top 5 went down... Ingram, Suh, Gerhart, Mccoy, then Tebow... You can catch this historic moment in ALABAMA FOOTBALL legend @ 8PM Eastern 7 Central live on ESPN this Saturday night...
